Gemstones and Pearls
AREPO selects gemstones and pearls according to criteria of verifiable quality, aesthetic coherence and transparency.
Every jewel is assessed on the basis of its stone, material, proportion and final rendering. The main characteristics are stated on the product page, together with the gemmological certification where applicable.
Lab-grown diamonds
The lab-grown diamond is AREPO's principal stone.
It shares the same chemical composition, crystal structure and hardness as a natural diamond. The main difference lies in its origin: a lab-grown diamond is created in a controlled environment through advanced technological processes.
AREPO uses lab-grown diamonds because they allow a more transparent, contemporary and rational choice, while maintaining verifiable quality and high aesthetic value.
To learn more, see our dedicated page on lab-grown diamonds.
Fancy diamonds
Beyond classic diamonds, AREPO can consider fancy diamonds in a range of tones, such as yellow, champagne, blue, pink or other available colours.
The choice of colour depends on the design of the piece, the cut, the carat weight, availability and the final aesthetic balance.
Corundum
Beyond diamonds, AREPO can consider the use of selected corundum.
Corundum is a mineral composed of crystalline aluminium oxide. It is one of the most important gem families in jewellery, valued for its hardness, stability and breadth of colour.
Its best-known varieties are sapphire and ruby. Sapphire is traditionally associated with blue, while ruby designates the red variety of corundum. The colour range, however, is far wider, and may include pink, yellow, orange, violet, green and colourless tones.
This variety makes it possible to design jewels with very different identities: from the most classic accent of colour to rarer, more contemporary or more personal chromatic choices.
AREPO assesses corundum on the basis of colour, transparency, cut, proportion, colour uniformity and the presence of any declared treatments.
Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale.
Other gemstones
On request, AREPO can also consider other precious stones, such as emeralds, alexandrites or other selected gems.
These requests are considered case by case, according to availability, quality, declarable characteristics, gemmological documentation and coherence with the final jewel.
For stones of particular value, rarity or complexity, AREPO favours solutions accompanied by adequate documentation and clear information before the order is confirmed.
Pearls
AREPO can integrate selected pearls into specific designs.
Pearls offer a very broad range of aesthetic possibilities. They can vary in origin, size, shape, colour, lustre and surface quality.
Among the best-known types are Akoya pearls, valued for their regular shape and high lustre;
Freshwater pearls, versatile and available in many shapes and sizes;
Tahitian pearls, known for their dark, iridescent tones;
South Sea pearls, often characterised by significant size and light, golden or silvery colours.
AREPO assesses pearls on the basis of lustre, surface quality, shape, size, colour uniformity and coherence with the design of the jewel.
The type of pearl and its specific characteristics are stated on the product page where the jewel includes them.
How to read the quality of a stone
The quality of a stone does not depend on a single element, but on the balance between several characteristics.
For diamonds, the main parameters are the 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity and carat weight.
For corundum, what matters most is colour, transparency, cut, proportion, chromatic stability and the presence of any declared treatments.
For pearls, the main elements are lustre, surface, shape, size, colour and uniformity.
Where present, an independent gemmological certification documents the stone's characteristics in a verifiable way.
Certification and transparency
Where a jewel includes a certified stone, the presence of the certificate is stated on the product page.
AREPO favours clear information, declared materials and verifiable characteristics, so that customers can understand what they are purchasing before placing an order.
